Reference/Webmaster Librarian

The University of Florida Health Sciences Center Library (UF HSCL)
invites applications for a new tenure-track position of Reference/
Webmaster Librarian. The UF HSCL supports the Colleges of Medicine,
Nursing, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine and Allied Health
Professionals.  The Reference/ Webmaster Librarian will participate
as a member of the HSCL Reference, Education, and Information
Management (REIM) team of 7 librarians.

The position will have the following responsibilities: maintain the
HSCL website; organize and design the HSCL's homepage and coordinate
material for regular updates; participate in and facilitate
meetings of the Homepage Policy Committee; provide
reference/information services to users by staffing the information
desk up to 8 hours per week as scheduled; perform mediated online
searching; teach enduser searching of networked CD-ROM databases and
online public access catalog;  select materials for the library
collection in reference and assigned subject areas. Inherent in this
unique position are liaison services between the Library Systems
Division and REIM.

Required skills and experience: ALA accredited MLS, home page
development experience and HTML skills, webmaster experience or
coursework, knowledge of HTML, knowledge of basic Internet services,
informed about current trends in Website development, basic knowledge
of page layout and design, knowledge of health sciences information
sources, experience in online searching of MEDLARS and SilverPlatter
databases and Internet/WWW applications, leadership and
facilitation skills, ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks,
experience in providing instructional services to individuals and
groups, demonstrated oral and written communication skills,
organizational skills, ability to be a flexible team member, ability
to work cooperatively in a challenging and changing environment with
diverse levels of staff, outstanding interpersonal skills and strong
service orientation.

Desired skills and experience: Experience in providing reference
services, user education and database searching. Understanding and
experience with relevant information technologies, including the
Internet and Netscape. Member or provisional member of the Medical
Library Association's Academy of Health Information Professionals or
eligible for membership within the first three years of employment.

Salary:  Negotiable depending upon qualifications and experience:
$28,000 minimum.

Benefits:
1)  Twenty-two vacation days and thirteen sick leave days annually.
