Good Morning-

Has anyone taken advantage of using
cable as their internet provider?

I am aware of several initiatives -
mostly for schools and public
libraries- to use cable, however I
have gotten a call from our local
cable company (Cox) inquiring
whether we would consider switching
over. While I await the call of
their tech rep to go over the gory
details, I am wondering if anyone
else in the medical library
community might have already been
through this. All I know at this
point is that a cable modem is
required (I have heard around $400,
but am not sure about that) and
that monthly fees are generally
higher than telephone. Speed and
bandwidth advantages are supposedly
substantial.

I would really appreciate any
replies.
