Well, I wasn't sure if I was going to keep my own personal list of signs
of fall this year, but the report of the first snow on Mt. Washington
has peaked my interest so I think I'll try it again. There will be
comparisons to last year's dates where applicable (in parentheses).

#1 July 27 First noticed leaves changing (Aug 6)
#2 Aug 10 First sub-freezing temps / ice on Mt. Washington (Aug
19)
#3 Aug 10 First snowfall on Mt. Washington (Sep 10)

It's likely that the earlier leaves changing is due to the drier
conditions and stress, but when I personally see colored leaves is
rather arbitrary since I'm not watching the same tree all the time and
it may depend on if I'm looking ;)
