Peter, that sounds like an awful lot of work.  I'm exhausted just reading
it.  No disrespect but wouldn't it be less work to just throw your skis in
the car and go, regardless of their condition.  They'd probably need some
work when you got back anyway.  I should have done that - didn't - my own
fault - no complaints coming.
