I would, as diplomatically as possible, explain to the faculty that you cannot give out ANY circulation
information-- even aggregate date.  It goes against your training as a librarian and is contrary to standard
library practice-- In other words, that would be LIBRARY MALPRACTICE.  In addition, you could also
say that it is against your institution's policy to do so-- as demonstrated by your blocking out previous
circulation records.  There may also be a state law (NY has one) forbidding libraries to reveal patron
and circulation records with out a subpeona or court order.

On another note, do you really have the time to track the student's usage of the tapes?  Also, is it
really your job to to police usage?  The students are old enough to take consquences of their actions,
let the insturctors grade them accordingly.
