Great question. The law (17 V.S.A. § 2141) does indeed require you to post the checklist in two or more public places, in addition to posting it at the town clerk’s office, but it does not require you to post your checklist online.

We addressed the issue of posting online in our February 19th bulletin (highlit near the bottom of this chain), which of course was well before S. 298 was passed and signed into law. [...]

Thanks - 17VSA sec. 2141(c) (3) seems to conflict with the new legislation - was this removed or was the change an addition to (c) (3)?
Just curious - I have since removed checklists from my website.
If this is a privacy issue, it seems all for not, since the Grand List, which contains all that information for property owners, is public information (with little exception) and we post it to the website as well. The new legislation does not affect that.

Hi all,

Vermont Clerks are not required to post their town's checklist on their city website. Anyone requesting a statewide checklist still has to request through the Secretary of State's office (VSA § 2154). Here is the current statute on posting the checklist:

17 V.S.A. § 2141 : Posting of checklist
(a) At least 30 days before any local, primary, or general election, the town clerk shall cause copies of the most recent checklist of the persons registered to vote to be posted in two or more public places in the municipality in addition to being posted at the town [...]

A suggestion: The checklist is created from the State's election database. Perhaps it should be legislated so that all requests for the checklist go directly to the State, removing the clerks from that process.

Does anyone know if a stamped signature would be sufficient to sign the certified copy paper for copies of death certificates?

We would still have to write the date in ink and emboss with our town seal, but I am wondering if the certified copy would still be legit using a signature stamp for when we have large orders. [...]

Now that we are winding down with some of our FEMA work, we would like to get some contractors on a list that we could call in an emergency, to avoid having to go through the procurement process during the event when we are stretched thin. Are there any towns who have been successful designating engineers or other contractors as your go-to person during an emergency? We have one - we asked for bids from tree removal services, and chose one to be our "on-call" service to do debris removal during emergencies, but we would like to expand this to [...]

We have never been able to get the process to work for us. We have had tickets rejected because we used the wrong envelope, because we did not ask the person if they are active duty military, and because instead of putting one date of offense, we put “see attached” and attached a list of dates. You also have to know the person’s birthdate. Town Clerks can often find that through other means, but I’m not sure we are supposed to be using our access that way. The Town of Norwich passed an article on our Town Warrant in March 2010.
The article read:

"Shall the voters of the Town of Norwich establish a special purpose fund
within the general fund to remain available as long as there are monies in
the fund for poor relief and citizen assistance under the direction and
control of the Town Manager to receive grants and gifts for poor relief and
citizen assistance and appropriate $1,000 to the fund?" [...]

Both Microsoft Teams and Zoom have transcription functionality.
It can be a simple as setting up a meeting in your calendar, even if everyone is physically in the room, recording, then downloading the transcript.

Richmond uses Otter AI to transcribe most of our meetings. Even though Zoom provides a transcript, the Otter AI one is easier to read and access. Otter AI also creates a Summary of the meeting that is very useful to the Planning Commission and DRB. We also often use the Summary to quickly scan to see if a Committee approved minutes or other quick details. We use the transcript for filling in specific details from the WS and SB minutes. We send the transcript/summary to most other Committee chairs to have for their records. I am not sure how much [...]
