Thanks for all the responses! I'll list them as well as a tiny bit of
commentary on our decision making because I also got a lot of questions.
*Short answer:*
-no one has bought one online, one person made one on-farm, and everyone
else got one made at Giroux's in Hinesburg. Those who don't use them use
5-gal buckets or fish baskets.
*Commentary:*
-We've used 5 gallon buckets for years, but to fit 20# of carrots (our most
common root), we go over the top of the bucket and inevitably lose some.

seeders that you have and like. Our dream seeder can seed a wide
variety of crops, we want to be able to do high density baby leaf
greens, carrots, beets, probably other things, so it needs to be able
to do a variety of seed sizes and different spacing between rows. Is
it worth it to get a tractor mounted vacuum seeder? Does anyone have

We processed our chickens a little earlier than planned(though they were plenty big enough!), and have 15 50# bags of Organic 18% broiler feed from Stonehouse Grain. It was picked up from them on September 10th and has been store in a cooler since then.
Hoping to recoup cost on them, $25 a bag. My brother, Robert Arnold, drives up sometimes to VT and could possibly help with transport, or come get at anytime!

Several people reached out to let me know that many listserv messages are going to spam. I worked with UVM IT to figure out a solution, then tested it on my Gmail account. There are two ways to stop messages from going to spam:
1) Create a filter to send all messages from the VVBGA listserv to your inbox. This is the most direct way to fix the problem.
2) Go into your spam folder and mark messages from the VVBGA listserv as not spam. Hopefully that will “train” Gmail to put these messages in your inbox in the future.

Mobile high tunnel question

Hello,

Does anyone know or and have contact info for a tunnel builder named Jesse
Shull? I believe his company was called Atlantic Builders and he was out of
NH. He helped me with a project a few years ago but I lost his contact info.

He manufactured a bracket that attached to a mobile tunnel's "ground post"
and allowed a trailer jack with rubber wheels to attach and eventually lift
the tunnel up for moving. I have a winch system, but since I also have the
trailer jacks, I'd like to try that out. If anyone has any better [...]

We are running out of time for cover crop planting in the Northeast, so practicality has become more important than creativity.

For a winter-killed cover crop, oats will probably still give some protective benefit. Oats will continue to grow with light frosts, and will be killed by the first hard frost of 25 degrees-ish. It probably is too late to expect much from 4010 peas at this time of year in Vermont. [...]

year when we are all probably wondering, out loud or in our heads, what
cover we can get established before it's too late. I find it increasingly
hard to make those judgement calls when a Magic 8 Ball ranks high for
precision amongst weather prognostication references. This site has
bottomless educational resources and a pretty sophisticated calculator
tool, and sells cover crop seed to suit everyone from plain-Jane PVO to
whatever kind of maniac plants a "cucurbit mix".

Late blight has been identified on tomatoes in a garden in Fairfax, VT. The aggressive fungal-like organism causes greasy brown spots the size of a nickel-quarter, typically on the upper foliage, since the airborne spores "rain down" with weather events. If you look at the leaf undersides when moist, you will see a gray/white band of sporulation on the perimeter of the spots.
