Please join the CONSERVATION BIOLOGY SEMINAR for our weekly lunchtime
discussions on topics relating to conservation biology.

Our final speaker for this semester:

DR. JILL BUBIER of Mount Holyoke College will present:
CARBON CYCLING IN BOREAL PEATLANDS - RESPONSES TO CLIMATE CHANGE

When: Tuesday, November 27
Where: 105 Aiken Center
Time: 12:30 to 1:30

Jill Bubier is a Field Naturalist alumnus and an assistant professor in the
Environmental Studies Program at Mount Holyoke College, where she teachers
interdisciplinary environmental science. Her research focuses on northern
ecosystems and biogeochemistry of peatlands, including methane and carbon
dioxide flux (carbon cycling). She is particularly interested in peatland
plant ecology and hydrochemical gradients. Currently, Jill is conducting
research in BOREAS (BOReal Ecosystem Atmosphere Study), a US-Canadian
experiment to understand interactions between the boreal forest biome and the
atmosphere, and relationships with global climate change.
