Hey Everyone,
I apologize for this "missuse" of the listserv, but I promise I won't do
it again, and I wanted to let you all know about a really cool event
here on campus.
I have been working on bringing a speaker to UVM, and have been
successful. The speaker is Dr. Roger Payne, the scientist who first
discovered that humpback whales sing, (among other things) and is the
founder of the Ocean Alliance, an organization dedicated to
coonservation through research and education. He has also been very
active in conservation of marine mammals and the oceans they inhabit. He
is an incredibly eloquent and powerful speaker, and it will be a great
talk. The talk is entitled, ‘Whales: how prey behavior and ocean
acoustics selected for the largest animals that have ever lived.’ It
will be in Stafford Hall, Rm 101 on Wednesday April 14, 4:30 to 5:30 pm.
Refreshments will be served afterwards. For more information on Dr.
Payne or the Ocean Alliance and its programs, you can check out
www.oceanalliance.org. Feel free to e-mail me with any questions.
:) Danielle
