Just a quick heads up for you guys. If you are planning on doing anything
over the break and will need to have access to the SGA funds to do so. You
have to make sure that the account is not frozen. We ran into that same
issue last year and couldn't do anything until January 15th when school
started again.
I can't stress enough how important it is to get the fund raising tackled
very very soon. You should have already contacted the existing sponsors not
to mention the potential ones. I don't want to sound like a dick and
lecture about it, but damn!!! You are in BIG trouble if you haven't at
least recieved some money. Have you contacted GoodYear yet? I have writen
a couple of e-mails to Jon DuPont mentioning that you would be contacting
him shortly. I have also writen some letters to the BOA members and they
have contributed $500 so far. But your budget from SGA and $500 won't build
you another car.
I suggest that the few of you that will be around over break focus on the
fundraising and get those sponsorship packets out to every single sponsor
from last year and whoever the potential ones are. Follow up in one week
after you deliver the packet with a call. Money always takes time to show
up, so if you are waiting around in February for money to show up you are
screwed.
Please don't take any of this personally or offensive. I know that class
schedules and exams are very time consuming and stressful, and your top
priority. I just want to see you be successful.
Rachael and I are willing and availible to help you in the right direction.
She raised a lot of money for us last year and is really good at it so feel
free to contact her for advise on how to go about soliciting money from
these companies.
I will continue to write letters to some additional sources that may have
potential to provide financial assisitance.

Subject: Time to get back in gear
Hello fellow Mini Baja team members, I hope you have been getting
through all your exams and projects succesfuly. I am aware that we have
all been under a good deal of stress and experiencing a heavy workload
during the past couple of weeks. However, if we want to compete in this
years competitions we need to get back on track and take care of business.
Registration for the eastern and Midwestern Competitions is due
January 17th. Registration is $250 per car entered. So, if we have 2 cars
going to both competitions we will be spending $1000 on registration
alone. So, I need to know who has contacted their sponsors. If you haven's
done so, then you either need to get on this asap, or let us know that you
cant do it. I feel we have fallen behind on the fundraising but we are not
in trouble yet.
Please contact me if you will be around Burlington During the
winter break. This could be a potentialy good time to get much done. As
you have all seen the beginning of the semester is the best time to take
care of business since the end is beyond busy.
Thanks for your help, hope the rest of your exams go well.
