The Upper Valley Trails Alliance is a coalition of trail and land protection
organizations, civic groups, and landowners in New Hampshire and Vermont,
which support multi-modal trails and the creation of a cohesive trail
network in the Upper Valley.  We are currently looking for an intern to
assist us with a wide range of summer events and projects.  Please pass this
along to anyone who may be interested!

Internship Position Available

Upper Valley Trails Alliance Intern
White River Junction, Vermont

Upper Valley Trails Alliance is a coalition of trail and land protection
organizations, civic groups, and landowners, which support multi-modal
trails and the creation of a cohesive trail network in the Upper Valley.
The Alliance encourages coordination and collaboration between trail groups,
provides technical assistance and training for groups, and fosters the use
of the trailís network.

Start Date:  June 12, 2000 (can be flexible)  Internship is part-time for 10
weeks.

Duties:
&#61623; Support to the Upper Valley Trails Coordinator in providing
assistance to trail groups, civic groups, and landowners.
&#61623; Help plan and organize Upper Valley Trails Day 2000, including
working with trail groups on their events, coordinating the evening
activities, finding volunteers for Trails Day, producing a poster and other
publicity materials, posting the publicity materials, etc.
&#61623; Compile the Upper Valley Trails Directory.

Skills Required:
The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise or relevant skills
in the following areas:
&#61623; Working with volunteers.  Demonstrated expertise motivating,
engaging and supervising volunteers.
&#61623; Ability to work with varied personalities and constituencies
including agencies, landowners, and citizensí groups.
&#61623; Ability to competently facilitate meetings.
&#61623; Proficiency with word processing, electronic communications and
databases.
&#61623; Ability to self motivate, work independently, and manage the
multiple demands.
&#61623; Oral, writing and public speaking skills.
&#61623; Ability and willingness to travel throughout the Upper Valley.
