Dear Colleague,

Have you applied for Incyte’s 2nd Annual $100,000 Discovery Grant? Go
to www.incyte.com/sequencing for more information and to submit your
grant
proposal today.

Incyte is now accepting applications on-line and via fax for the 2nd
Annual $100,000 Discovery Grant. The winner of the Discovery Grant will

be announced on September 15, 2000 at the TIGR Genome Sequencing &
Analysis Conference in Miami, Florida and via www.incyte.com. Grant
applications will also be available and accepted at the Incyte booth at
the conference. The winner need not be present at the conference to
win.

The Discovery Grant highlights Incyte's Custom Sequencing service which
leverages several of the company's core competencies including library
screening, library construction, sequencing and bioinformatics. All
Grant applications must be received by September 13th at 5 pm to be
reviewed by the Grant Committee for content, creativity, and proposed
use of research findings. The Grant Committee is comprised of Scientists

from Incyte and the genomic community. Incyte will meet with the
selected winner to review the project and develop a plan to utilize the
$100,000 grant effectively to achieve the goal stated in the proposal.

The 1999 Discovery Grant was awarded to Lena H. Hwang, a post-doctoral
fellow in the laboratory of Dr. Jasper Rine at the University of
California, Berkeley. Hwang's proposal focused on Histoplasma
capsulatum, an aggressive pathogenic fungus that infects humans, causing

pulmonary and systemic disease and is often fatal in immunocompromised
individuals. The work that was completed using the grant is playing a
critical role in the development of microarray technology, reverse
genetics and other genomics based research facilitating the
identification of genes involved in the pathogenesis of H. capsulatum.
Once these genes are identified, they can be examined as targets for new

drug therapies.

Please send an email to [log in to unmask] if you do not wish to be
notified about Incyte services in the future.

Best regards,
Meghan Lane
