There is so much lacking to our bus design and our awareness of what the
buses are for. I think of the UVM buses for examples which re-enact
children's school buses with banquet seating--very inefficient for
short hops. If the seating were opened up such as occurs in european
buses ther would be plenty of room for bikes inside. At least in Vermont
the distances people are going by bus is not great.
I see no reason not to mix bikes and people. There are plenty of models
out, we just don't seem to be willing to try
them. And why are the buses still reliant on petrol?
On another note, Why are most of the state offices on a hill outside of
with no bus to the center, no way to post a letter or go to the bank when
the message is downtown is good and there should be an alternative to
driving? If we could convince the state and 5,000 employees that have to
office at National Life that there are alternatives to auto-dependency,
maybe we would have an impact.
