The Vermont Department of Housing and Community Affairs and The Vermont 
Planners Association invite you to attend the biennial

Planning Celebration Conference

October 28th, 9 am - 3pm

Capital Plaza, Montpelier VT

The Planning Celebration highlights successful planning projects from 
across Vermont to educate and inspire innovative planning and community 
development. The theme for this event is: "From Planning to 
Implementation," and workshops will cover: Public Engagement; Planning 
for Housing; Building Healthy Communities; Brownfields Re-Development; 
and Integrated Planning for Water Quality/ Hazard Mitigation and Land 
Use. Workshops are presented by professional and citizen planners.

The Keynote speaker is William Shutkin, CEO of the Orton Family 
Foundation and a leading voice for sustainable development in the United 
States. The featured lunch speaker is Paul Costello, Director of the 
Council on Rural Development, who will present on the recommendations of 
the Vermont Planning Council for the future of planning in Vermont.   A 
brochure and registration form are attached.

Following the conference, the Vt. Planners Association hosts a special 
reception (with hors d’oeuvres and cash bar) with presentation by 
renowned author and social critic, James Howard Kunstler Author of The 
Long Emergency  Reception begins at 4 p.m. (non conference-goers are 
also invited, $5.00 suggested donation).
