A month and a half after Town Meeting Day, I hope that any new local
officials are getting settled in.
However, whether you're new or not, I would like to remind you and your
fellow officials about a new and easy resource for funding local
training and consultations on land use issues in your town: the
Municipal Education Grant (MEG) program.
Now into its second year, the MEG program provides an easy application
process for $800 toward any local session on land use issues of interest
to you and the rest of your peers. And you can multiply that money by
combining with other towns.
Find out more about the program and training topics at
Perhaps you want to hold a session on the essentials of planning or
development review. Or maybe you are looking for information on
something more specific like zoning bylaws, rules of procedure, or
stormwater issues. The MEG can help you bring these opportunities
directly to your town.
Remember the deadline for these fiscal year's round of MEG funding is
May 16. Don't wait! If you want to organize a training on a land use
planning and regulation topic in your town, download the MEG application
