For those who missed this....

RECORD EVENT REPORTNATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE PORTLAND, ME833 AM EST WED JAN
14 1998...MAINE'S ALL-TIME STATE RECORD LOW TEMPERATURE CRUSHED LAST
NIGHT!...THE TEMPERATURE AT ALLAGASH FELL TO AN INCREDIBLE 55 DEGREES BELOW
ZEROLAST
NIGHT!
THIS EASILY BROKE THE OLD STATE RECORD OF 48 DEGREES BELOWZERO SET ON
JANUARY 19TH...1925 IN VAN BUREN.  THIS MAY BE AN ALL-TIMENEW ENGLAND LOW
TEMPERATURE AS WELL.

AS OF 8 AM...THE TEMPERATURE HAD ONLY MOVED UP TO 53 DEGREES BELOW
ZERO.  A SIDE NOTE...THE LOW TEMPERATURE AT FIRST CONNECTICUT LAKE IN
NEWHAMPSHIRE
LAST NIGHT FELL TO 40 DEGREES BELOW ZERO.  THIS IT NOT A RECORD.  THE
ALL-TIME
RECORD FOR NEW HAMPSHIRE STANDS AT 46 BELOW ONJANUARY 28...1925.THE ARCTIC
AIR WILL
REMAIN IN PLACE FOR AT LEAST ANOTHER 24 HOURS. WARM AIR WILL MOVE INTO
SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND FRIDAY MORNING.  THERESULT OF THE CLASH BETWEEN THE
TWO
AIR MASSES WILL BE A SIGNIFICANTWINTER STORM.CANNON/NWS GRAY ME
