Well, New Hampshire may not have a very aggressive bike/ped
program (Vermont is not much better) but it will have the first State
sponsored all-day conference on bike/ped, "Walk and Bike NH--Today and
Tomorrow", May 27 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Sheraton Tara Wayfarer Inn, 121 So. River
Road, Bedford, NH Participation is limited to the first 200 registrations
and an April 30 deadline--but early word is the interest has been low so
getting there should be still possibel.
Cost is a pedestrian $15 for the day, payable to the NHDOT Revolving
Fund, Call Ram Maddali, Bill Watson or Bill Jennison at NHDOT 603 271 1622
for information. Tpics and panels include Traffic Calming, Ten Year Program
Projet Selection, School and Community Educational Programs, NH Bike and Ped
Mapping, Bike Ped Recreational Opportunities, Advocacy Tactics/ New
Partnerships/the Media, Bike Ped Design and Obstacles to Walking and Biking
(yours truly on panel thanks to direct intercession by NHDOT official with
VAOT), Economic Impacts of Bike/Ped.
Andy Clark, Director Bike Federation of America and Bruce Burgess of
Middlebury head of BFA's Vermont office will be featured at lunch time.
