FYI

I am still trying to work out a date for Jeff to visit Vermont. We had
settled on Thursday December 2nd but now that may be conflicting with
another trip he has to take. I hope to have it resolved by early next week.

>Dear Maine Cyclists,
>
>The Fall issue of Maine Cyclist is at the printers and should be arriving
>by the end of next week. In the mean time there are couple of important
>things you should know about, including bond issues that will improve
>biking in Maine if approved. The Bicycle Coalition of Maine has worked in
>cooperation with other partner organizations to help support the
>Transportation Bond and the Land for Maine's Future Bond. If you have
>any questions or need more info, please don't hesitate to contact us at

>#3 - TRANSPORTATION BOND - This bond will raise $56 million for a whole
>host of transportation infrastructure in every part of the state.
>Complimenting the gains in the new gas tax, it will increase the shoulder
>paving MDOT does. $250,000 of the bond will fund rail trail development
>in Maine. There will also be significant funds to support mass transit
>and rail (freight & passenger), giving Mainers and visitors much more
>transportation choice. It will also make the state eligible for up to
>$112 million in matching federal funds.
>
>#7 - LAND FOR MAINE'S FUTURE Bond - This bond will keep one of Maine's
>most successful public lands programs in effect. Bicyclists benefit from
>this bond with increased or preserved access for off road riding. A 75
>mile network of rail trails in Aroostook County, an extension to Bradbury
>State Park and mountain biking trails on Mt Agamenticus in York are just
>a few of the 47 projects across Maine to preserve public access for
>future generations. You can learn more on this issue at

>Do you live in PISCATAQUIS or SAGADAHOC counties? Bicyclists are still
>needed to represent these counties as we work with MDOT to help identify
>and prioritize shoulder paving projects.
