Sorry, but I don't have an answer.  I think this topic is an important one.
I am a middle school math teacher with the same situatuation, but my school
includes all (Full inclusion) children in the class room .  So I have
children at the 2nd grade level and beyond with many kinds of needs. Our
administration is providing training in Differentiated Instruction to help
meet the needs of all children within a heterogeneous class.
 I would be interested in finding out about any type of program for children
that are at lower levels.            John
