In the fifth grade , the students do, "Prime Time" ( covering number"
theory), "Covering and Surrounding" (area and perimeter), "Bits and
Piecies 1"(fractions), and "Data About Us" (statistics).  They also work
on place value and sense of number with additional materials. In sixth
grade, they do "Bits and Pieces II", (decimals, fractions, ratios),
"Shapes and Designs" ( relationships between angles, polygons, etc), How
Likely Is It? (probability ) and if they have time "Ruins of Montarek"
(surface area and volume).  The teachers in 6th grade do additional work
on place value, sense of number, number operations and number theory.
They meet as a group about four times a year to coordinate work and chart
progress.  It has been a great effort to date.
