Happy End of June - I thought I'd pass along a little update on the Davis Center and its progress. As some of you can see from being in town, the building keeps going up and up. Here are a few highlights - We flew the last high beam a week and a half ago. Ray Lavigne painted two beams a nice golden color and we had students for the Orienation session on that day sign the beam (in green marker) in the morning. We then moved the beam to a spot behind the bookstore so others could sign it prior to its placement. We had a small program, with President Fogel, Mayor Kiss, and SGA VIce President AJ speaking, and invited all in attendance to sign away. It was great! Allen, Jan Peterson, and I continue to work on the FFE (furniture, fixtures, and equipment) for the building. We have had a few meetings with interested parties over the past weeks as we have been working to define the program for all areas. Once the program is near a final stage I will schedule an info meeting with the DAC to review the concepts, take last minute suggestions, and then we will move on to selecting products. I anticipate that we will be finalizing the program as we move into August, and then bring in some product samples for general imput as we move into September and October. We have sme great new rendering for the Pub/Bistro and the ballroom. I am away on vacation for the next 2 1/2 weeks. I'd like to propose that we get together on July 27 at 2:30 - 4 pm to do two things - have a general update on FFE and the like, and to visit the job site for a tour. Progress is moving fast and I think it would be great for us to wander the site on this date/time. So please let me kno if you can make the meting. I wil forward a plcae later on in July. Thanks! And please pass along any questions you might have. Pat -- Patrick Brown Director of Student Life and the Dudley H. Davis Center University of Vermont (802) 656-2060
