process of registration. It is important to read this website and take 
advantage of the information and instructions provided to you.

The Defining Excellence Award

Each year, the Defining Excellence Award acknowledges three UVM students 
with a disability.

The criteria for this Award are:

- Demonstrated academic excellence by maintaining a cumulative GPA of 
3.0 or above.

- Service to Community.

- Demonstrated an ability to work with others as a leader.

The recipient of this award understands the honor and the privilege of 
giving to others.

Applying for the Defining Excellence Award:

Applicants must submit a 500-word, double-spaced written essay to ACCESS 
sharing how they have provided service and been a leader in their 
community.

In addition, applicants submit a minimum of one letter of recommendation 
from a UVM faculty member, staff member, or another student supporting 
their community service efforts.

Essays and Letters of Recommendation should be emailed to [log in to unmask] 
with the subject line: Defining Excellence Award.

Previous recipients are eligible to apply. However, they must have the 
ability to demonstrate furthered and continued contributions to the 
community.

*Applications are due by Monday, April 7th*

The Defining Excellence Award is presented at the annual Student Life 
Awards Ceremony on May 1 from 10 am to noon in the Sugar Maple 
Ballroom/Davis Center. The recipient will be notified that they are the 
winner and should plan to attend this event in order to be honored and 
given the Award at the Student Life Awards Ceremony.

Please note - Earning the Defining Excellence Award may impact your 
financial aid package. Please consider this benefit by seeking guidance 
from Student Financial Services.

***DISABILITY AWARENESS MONTH***

ACCESS is one of the main sponsors of Disability Awareness Month. We've 
begun meeting with the Disability Awareness Month Committee to plan for 
next year's [events happen in October] events.

If you or someone you know is interested in participating on this 
committee, we would greatly appreciate STUDENT INPUT!
